edit – to be clear this product looks weird and impractical but i think theres potential to the idea…
Saw this and got me thinking about traditional carradice style saddlebags and wondering why nobody ever thought to make them roll out taller when fully packed and add some straps? Then you could unfurl it, pack all your handlebar, framebag stuff in there and run them as a backpack off the bike for hiking/flights etc. Or even take a normal backpack and adding some loops – anyone tried this? Im sure its either an absolute no brainer or terrible idea…

Saddlebags have a low profile and don’t cause an obstruction when you swing your legs over the seat. On tour, you would rather have saddle bags than backpacks. Saddlebags with shoulder straps are already convenient enough for city commuters. The price and complexity for putting a backpack on the saddle is not worth it for a commuter who can just as easily ride with a backpack. Utterly useless feature.
