Hi all,

Canyon has two Aeroad builds at exactly €6,999 right now and I can't decide.

CFR AXS: CFR frame, DT Swiss ARC 1100 55 mm, Classic Drops.

CF SLX 9 AXS: CF SLX frame, Zipp 454 NSW 58 mm hookless, Aero Drops, 3D-printed saddle

Everything else identical! So it really comes down to frame, wheels, saddle and drops.

The CFR frame is nominally better but I want to run Aero Drops, and on the CFR that's another €220 later, which closes the gap. And everything I read suggests the frame difference is marginal anyway, tests show near identical stiffness and aero numbers.

So:

• Is the CFR frame worth anything you can actually feel?

• Which is better? DT Swiss ARC 1100 or ZIPP 454 NSW?

• Are the Aero Drops worth it or i can just turn the hoods in?

Thanks!

  1. I would pay another 1000€ not to have a white Canyon. So CFR if you ask me. I have the black one, wonderful.

CFR and is not even close. The other one is entry level frame with fancy groupset and hookless wheels.

  3. not identical. the SLX9 has ceramicspeed BB, while the CFR had it in the past but doesn’t have it right now anymore.

    454NSW is hookless.

    i would buy the SLX9

Are hookless tires (zipp) such a big disadvantage? I’ve never ridden them before.

  5. I went from a ’22 SLX8 frame to a ’25 CFR and noticed no difference at all. But I am not a super fast rider either, and I primarily made the change for the rest of the parts (including the zipp wheels which I would say are better in wind vs DTS 62mm that were on the SLX8).

The one with DT 100%. I’m very very biased il love dt Swiss (I have Grc 1100 and boys they are incredible). + As mentioned I would not ride hookless, maybe it’s just a rumor but it looks a little bit more fragile, I’m very uneducated on this so don’t take this in account
