🇧🇾 Minsk is a surprising city: huge, orderly, monumental. A capital almost entirely rebuilt after World War II, today dominated by Soviet architecture, wide boulevards, history, and even castles and symbols of the former USSR!
In this episode we explore some of the city’s most iconic sites:
📍 Victory Square, the heart of Soviet memory
📍 The massive Palace of the Republic
📍 The futuristic National Library of Belarus
📍 The museum dedicated to sculptor Azgur, home to monumental Soviet-era statues
📍 Soviet mosaics scattered across the city
📍 The striking Hill of Glory, a memorial to the 1944 liberation of Belarus
Minsk is also the political center of the country led by Alexander Lukashenko, often called “the last dictatorship in Europe.” But what does it really mean to visit this city today?
🎥 In this documentary we try to show Belarus beyond the stereotypes, looking at everyday life, monuments, contradictions, and the atmosphere of a capital that feels suspended between a Soviet past and an uncertain present.
🚧 This is the second episode of our journey through Belarus. In the next video we’ll enter the Belarusian side of the Chernobyl exclusion zone, one of the least-known and most heavily contaminated areas from the 1986 nuclear disaster.

Bro even for us this winter period is a bit difficult. I mean it's not our prime time due to cold and grayish weather with lack of the sun. As someone who lives in Minsk I tried to watch your videos about my country from objective point I also noticed your inspiration by Molchat Doma and their visual stuff (one them is my classmate btw). Thank you for your attention to our linguistic particularities.
Anyway during these really beautiful summer days your videos created some sort of sadness and anxiety. Definitely these vibes aren't similar to how I feel my country living here. Is much more beautiful here in spring, summer and autumn. You have to come here for another time.
P.S. Never used those old trains, there are available new and comfortable machines with a little higher price. I am sorry for your experience.
P.P.S. Better stop to use those 6 years old pics. This is not relevant nowadays.
I know you really enjoy everything Soviet themed but I hope other foreigners won't come to conclusion that those momerorials is all Belarus has to offer, though I admit I stopped noticing some of those pieces of art cause I simply got used to it.
About our president, there is a really good amount of people who actually speak well of him, since even with all madness going on around we still can enjoy our days peacefully.
Also that KFS building, obviously it wasn't ment to be called KFC, they just bought place under the monument one day. And now I see why, people are indeed intrigued by this contrast of old and new in one place.
Anyway I always happy to see a tourist having a good time even with the roughest wintes you could encounter in 10 or so years.
as belarusian, i can say, that despite all thoughts, Belarus is such a great country, thanks to people like u, US and europe can learn about belarusian beauty, i was really suprised, when saw your series, very underrated youtuber
You radiate ignorance as you breathe – you don't even perceive it.
Belarusian postpunk is the best part)0))
