This is my Trek 930. I bought it for $539 in 1994 when I was 13 with my own money and have had it ever since. It was my ex-wife's bike for a while, the kid hauler for a while, neglected for a while, but I could never part with it. Last winter, I overhauled it. Touched up the paint (black paint is boring, but blessedly easy to to touch up). It was a perfect winter project to do when it was -7ºF outside.
This year, it is the bike I ride with buddies to get beers, cruise around the neighborhood, or take my son to the park. It has seen some gravel, a few curbs and jumps, some 12 packs. It's my slowest bike, but one I never regret choosing. It was and is perhaps not the most flashy bike, but it was made in my home state and I'll never not appreciate that.

Such a great frame with so many options. I have a 950 custom build that a purchased new picking nearly every part. It’s been crashed hard by a buddy and now slightly bent and yet it’s been a winter built Xtra free rad for at least 15 years and never fail. Surly bars and a XT 1×9 mountain brifter. Oh, and I’ve crashed it a few times to lol. It’s a mountain bike after all.
