I was mid ride and I tried to shift my gears and it just went out of place and didn’t come back into the center, couldn’t shift for the rest of the ride. I didn’t drop the bike ever and I’ve always been very gentle. My repair guy said I probably need a whole new shifter which would cost $100+. The shifter is the right side 10 speed sram rival

new brifter is probably the only option here. they’re pretty easy to change at home with minimal tools, but you will need a new shift cable. look on the used market, any series sram 10 speed lever will be compatible.
This part is replaceable but you’ll need to find the part number on the bill of materials.
Luckily it’s pretty easy to replace!

Have had the same. One day the 10-speed shift lever of my sram rival broke. No accident just by usage.
Definitely time for a new bike.
