Thanks Tia! What a pleasant diversion from the "usual suspects" for relocation in France! I discovered quite some time ago that housing affordability typically skyrockets if you are willing to live some distance away from the popular city centers. If that is by far your #1 criteria, then ignore those expensive hotspots, and commit to learning French. The one possible exception i would note is Marseilles. There are good reasons not to consider it, but it's got a LOT going for it too, and it's still a relative bargain. That said, French is still a must in France's second city. 😎

I think we'd more likely live in Rennes or Rouen and visit Quimper, but the overview is still interesting.
