Attercliffe Road is in complete chaos. Under the banner of “Net Zero” infrastructure, Sheffield Council’s ongoing roadworks, aggressive red route restrictions, and cycle lane installations are actively choking local independent trade and creating an absolute circus for everyday drivers.
Filmed on 18th August 2026, this video exposes the reality on the ground: forced diversions, artificial gridlock, and struggling local shops fighting for survival. We need to document what is happening to our community before more independent family businesses are forced to close their doors forever.

🚧 THE REAL LOCAL IMPACT:
• Woodburn Road (00:21): 1,000 Net Zero homes are being built here, adding massive pressure to an already broken road network.
• Local Businesses Hit (01:07): The Carlton Pub is facing severe red route restrictions. The local sewing shop is already being forced to close down, and the iconic Frymaster fish and chip shop is being hit incredibly hard by the total lack of customer parking and access.
• Spartan Works (01:20): A massive redevelopment project guaranteeing at least 40 weeks of absolute gridlock for commuters.
• Artificial Bottlenecks (03:09 & 03:20): The road narrows drastically near the old Banners building. Cycle lanes on both sides have essentially turned this major artery into a restrictive one-way system in this direction.
• Total Blockade (05:04): Attercliffe Road is completely cut off, forcing all traffic up Worksop Road toward Darnall.

Shitheap now
Good to see the Carlton still open.
Did zara sofas used to be a snooker hall
I was told by someone who has a firm down there that a test was done for a month to see how many cyclists go through they saw 2 absolutely bonkers what a waste of money
You see all those derelict industrial buildings so they coming after what's left !
3.10 Nice to see Marcway Models & Hobbies still going! 💪 It’s given me a proper nostalgia vibe! I went in there regularly in the 80’s with my dad. How long have they been in business for?
Off topic I know Tim but had to comment on my childhood! 😉
B n b in sheff council yes you bstads have destroyed my city i havnt been to city centre for 20 years now stick ur parking ur low ems ur foreigners youve done what hitler couldnt kill this city
Net zero is a joke. If Britain stopped producing any gas at all, it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to the world. We produce less than 1% while the East / South Asians pump it out for fun
Some of the foreign taxi drivers in Hull is terrible.Where ever they got their licence to drive it isn't in the UK.Shouldn't these drivers be retested or what? Hull has more green busses which is good also the city centre changed for the better.
Ayup Tim 👍 It's an absolute nightmare in that area now. This is the Gov'T and Sheffield Council. They are hell bent on closing down small independent businesses. That's the Real reason for all this crap. That's one of the Big Main roads in and out of Sheffield and they do this to it ! Complete waste of Tax payer money, causing inconvenience, closing down small businesses and….. not a Cyclist in sight !
You won’t need a car when they ban car ownership, our only options will be cycle or walk from your fifteen minute prison.
They are trying to make it harder to get to meadow Hall they will distroy those shops. On Attercliffe Sheffield shity council 🤬
Vote the b—-ards out😊
📌 Thank you for the incredible response to this video! Attercliffe Road is changing fast—is this genuine green progress, or just total chaos for local drivers and businesses? 🛑🌱

If you appreciate an honest, unvarnished look at Sheffield's changing streets, don't forget to Subscribe. My next tour of Castlegate and the Wicker drops this week! 🎥
Good to see that Sheffield rate payers' money is going to a worthy cause !
Councils applying UN 2030 and 17 sustainable development goals regardless of who or what you think you are voting for you are going to get the same agenda they don't want any private small and medium size businesses thats why they tried to bankrupt them all in covid.
They dont want you to drive into Sheff, and have not done for years, solution is dont go, last time i was in Sheff, i was spooked by the vibe, didnt feel good, so i wont be going unless i have to, they are screwing themselves.
Have you seen The Star about Northumberland Road, Sheffield Council officers are making a controversial one way system permanent – despite major opposition by residents.
Confirms my decision to move away 14 years ago. 800 mile round trip to watch the Blades is a killer though!
Used to travel down there to work in 1976 before we moved to Dronfield – the amount of dereliction is appalling. A once vibrant manufacturing centre gone forever. Businesses must be hanging on by a thread. Banners once superb dept. store empty and forgotten. Burtons had an outlet nearby that sold cut price suits, I had a few, some as low as £ 5.
I bought quite a lot of tooling from Rileys which was a goldmine at the time.
Anyway we'll all be pleased with the net zero housing for all the net zero contributing third world scroungers.
Cycle lanes are being installed for when they change the congestion charge and every vehicle has to pay …the people of Sheffield and South Yorkshire actually love all of this because they unbelievably keep voting Labour to continue with it across the county 🤷🏻♂️.
Net zero, will be forgotten in 25 years time
It's a simple effective way of getting business to move so they can reclaim the land .
The 1000 new homes will do local businesses good, and the extra space for pedestrians and cyclists will help people get to the shops. While red routes will help through traffic get where it is going. Sounds like a great project but like any development, it will take time before you see the benefits.
Sheffield communist council destroying job’s business’s and traffic for 30+ years all for half a dozen council cyclists that are perverting for their own Cultural Marxist doctrine
Whoever is in charge in Sheffield as got net zero brain's.😊
Another total waste of money by the council & the government no doubt put on to the tax payers.
I did this trip last Thursday Tim on my way to Meadowhall.
Couldn’t believe the number of ‘orange suits’ stood about chatting and basically doing ‘nowt’.
If only this hopeless, useless council could put the same amount of bodies and finances into sorting out Sheffield’ s pothole problem !.
(Keep up the good work mate) 👍.
It seems that historically things just worked, you could drive somewhere and buy something, now you can’t drive in lots of places, bus lanes, one way etc, and you can’t park, hence the businesses disappear. It’s not rocket science.
20mph for main roads is ludicrous!
30mph is reasonable in built up areas while 40mph should be reasonable on urban dual carriageways and 50mph on urban motorway type roads.
BTW, Ireland is much worse!
Wait till you see the urban road designs there.
Leprechauns on bicycles are in charge now!
Sheffield and Brierly hill, industrial heartland of the UK, destroyed. London, money capital of the world, destroyed. Anyone see a pattern ?
Stumbled across your channel. Add to subtme 👍
Now tell me, it's a labour council? I really like Sheffield and it's people and always enjoyed it when I worked there on occasion. From my experience having a reform council in Nottinghamshire has been like a breath of fresh air, something to consider next time you get a chance to vote?
In a few years time when the government has priced low paid workers out of their vehicles 🚗 through higher taxes, you will be glad for all those cycle lanes so that you can get to work safely and get to the shops safely .. you’ll be able to cycle out to the countryside for a nice walk and a picnic safely … and when it rains you’ll get pissed wet through .. you’ll arrive at work soaking wet develop pneumonia and then die safely ….
Sheffield Council have ALWAYS made bad choices. They drove people out of the city centre by penalising car drivers at every single opportunity and closing off all the little "rat runs" which made the city flow, by forcing everyone down traffic lighted stop start main routes. I remember when the city centre was a bustling thriving hive of activity and now it's a ghost town. What blows me away is how everyone KEEPS voting for these idiots, it's EMBARASSING!!!! Bravo Labour, ruining EVERYTHING and killing off businesses as always.
Killing towns with Climate zealotry everyday.
' A great city, run by idiots ' has long been the motto of my once home.
A council so hell bent on war against the car. And utterly idiotic. They deemed it necessary to put double yellow lines around the INSIDE of Park Square roundabout
They live in Narnia land trying their best to get EVERYONE to use a bicycle or tram or hideous buses to get to the town centre.
Meanwhile. Businesses small and large go to the dogs.
While Manchester and Leeds gets bigger and better by the year.
I used to be proud to be from Sheffield.
Now, I'm just embarrassed.
The Planet night club has done!
Another nail in the freedom coffin. This pile of filth council (and government/establishment) (god knows how they get voted in or i.n.b.r.e.d into it) are hell bent on destroying Sheffield and Britain. They wanted to charge to park in Meadowhall a few years ago but that was stopped, so they thought of another way of eventually turning a once thriving place into a boarded up slum by making it as difficult and painful to get to as they can. The WAR on the motorist is increasing daily. Time for the 30 million ARMY of motorist to turn on these t.w.a.t.s. So many affected by so s.h.i.t sorry so few. Come on enough is enough surely it s time to wake up people to the end agenda.
I worked in and around the east end of Sheffield forty years ago. What has happened to it? FUBAR !!!
Words fail Tim 😢 Leeds is going toe to toe with you in this anti business scandalous waste 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
A lot of this is due to the C40 cities plans. They’re spending millions on cycle lanes all over the place. There’s hardly anyone using them right now. But soon most people will be pushed out of owning a car, either by tax or legislation. They don’t want you in your own motorised transport. They want 15 minute cities.
‘You will own nothing and be happy!’
