This isn’t just a bikepacking trip; it’s a traverse across “Old Warlands”—regions once defined by brutal conflict that now offer some of the most beautiful, secluded escapism in Europe.

In This Episode:

The Ascent Begins: Starting in Nikšić, Montenegro, we tackle the Durmitor National Park. With temperatures hitting 38°C and massive climbs, Day 1 tests our limits before rewarding us with an unforgettable sunrise at Durmitor Pass on Day 2.

Into the Wild: We cross into Bosnia and Herzegovina, facing essential resupplies, breathtaking mountain vistas, and the threat of thunderstorms (and bears).

The Scars of History: As we descend from the Sutjeska mountains, we encounter the first physical reminders of the Bosnian War—military outposts riddled with bullet holes.

The Spirit of Mostar: We experience the “best road descent ever” into Mostar, a city once fiercely contested and besieged. We reflect on the destruction and rebirth of the iconic Stari Most bridge and the enduring strength of the people who live there today.

The Climb Continues: After resting in Mostar, we tackle a 1,000m gravel climb toward the stunning Lake Blidinje.

Journey Highlights:

Route: Montenegro → Bosnia & Herzegovina → Croatia

Conditions: 38°C heat, off-road valley climbs, and mountain thunderstorms.

Key Locations: Durmitor National Park, Sutjeska, Mostar, and Lake Blidinje.

“Absolutely bloody rad.” – The trip in three words.

  1. Staying consistent on YouTube can feel incredibly draining when the views don’t reflect the work behind the video. You carefully craft your script, record patiently, edit every detail and then it feels like the content disappears into the void. But the frustrating part isn’t just the numbers. It’s the feeling that the video deserved more attention. Often the issue isn’t the content but the first impression it gives viewers. If curiosity isn’t triggered quickly enough, viewers click away before seeing the value. I’ve been studying channels in your niche and noticed a few adjustments that could help increase retention and clicks without changing your message. Would you be open to me sharing one idea?
