Pogačar Shatters Pantani’s Alpe d’Huez Record: The Greatest Climb Ever. For nearly 30 years, one climb stood above all others. Marco Pantani’s legendary ascent of Alpe d’Huez was considered untouchable—a benchmark that survived generations of cycling legends, technological advances, and countless Tour de France champions. Then Tadej Pogačar arrived. On Stage 19 of the 2026 Tour de France, Pogačar delivered one of the most extraordinary climbing performances the sport has ever witnessed. After UAE Team Emirates controlled the race, he launched a devastating long-range attack on the legendary 21 hairpins of Alpe d’Huez, caught every remaining rival, won the stage, and rewrote cycling history by breaking Pantani’s iconic climbing record. @TheCyclingReport

  1. Give it 10 years for a festina, Armstrong etc scandal, unless UCI and the empire , agree on cheating, which is so possible, as what matters is for the 99% dummies to remain totally asleep, while the empire steal their work and money etc …..when one cut the sounds it is so boring in fact..

  2. 🏔 Did we just witness the greatest climb in Tour de France history? 🤩Tadej Pogačar broke Marco Pantani's legendary Alpe d'Huez record after more than 30 years. Is this the greatest climbing performance ever, or does Pantani's ride still mean more because of its era?👇 What's your opinion?

  3. Get some fresh blood bags boys its Alpe d'uez tommorow..cycling is a circus..the commentators lapping it up…not one mention of pantanis name yesterday..just that he broke the record..they are hiding the fact pantani was doped to high heaven flying up that mointain and they try to tell you he wasnt….ive watched the tour since 1982…and this was just pure theatre..never seen such grovelling to a cheat…the anti doling commission know something stinks..they got a judge to sign a warrant for a 2am raid..unheard of before..its not the fact cyclists have got better..the drugs and masking agents have got better…its now just a massive joke

  4. First of all, modern bikes are significantly faster than those from Pantani's era, and that's by far the biggest difference. Then there are better tires, improved road surfaces, optimized nutrition, and much more advanced training methods. When all of these factors are taken into account, it's entirely possible that Pantani's climb remains the greater athletic achievement. Pogačar may have the faster official time, but that doesn't automatically mean he produced the greater performance.
