Hello , I’m looking to buy my first bike, but I’m a little concerned about how the drivetrain looks. Do you think it’s still good for another 1,000–1,500 km of easy riding until the next service in spring, or does it need to be replaced? The price is around €600. I am 178cm and 81 inseam, and the bike is size S.

  1. I haven’t looked into the sizing ta les, but I think you are size M. Pretty sure. You might be L.
    Otherwise fine.
Also, it would be frame size 56. Potentially 54 too.
    Maybe get a M/54?

  2. Nice bike albeit older with rim brakes (so wouldn’t attempt any crazy mountains or ~20% descents) but as the other comments say – this is too small. You likely should be looking for a 54 or 56 cm frame

Doesn’t Canyon run large? According to their website and online size charts, I’m right in between sizes: S is up to 178 cm, while M starts at 178 cm.

  4. If you are 178cm and the bike is a S, It will be too small I recon.
Canyon has size guiding online you can double check

  5. My son is 176, and I am 178. We both went with L bikes (MTB). An M might be OK. No way S will fit you.

That is too small for you, regardless of drivetrain. You won’t be happy with it as a first bike. And at that price you can get better options that fit you

I’m the same height, my brother-in-law’s size S bike is too small for me, so you should probably try it if you can. I ride a size M, though I know different brands have different sizing.

  8. Man I don‘t know but people seem to overindex on the size a bit too much. I‘m 193cm and fit a Grail size L best.
