Hi I’m considering buying this bike for day to day commute in a somewhat rainy city. Description from the seller:

Selling my 1980s TI Raleigh race bicycle.
Size 54
Shimano 105 front and rear mech and levers.
Cinelli Stem and bars.
Mavic MA2 rims with brand new Schwalbe tan Wall tyres.
Seat tube centre to top is 55cm and the top tube is 55.5cm

Wondering if the asking price is reasonable? Would also like to know more about the frame, potential age and quality of the frame. There aren’t any decals and very few pictures on the ad.

Many thanks!!

It’s way too expensive. It’s not necessarily desirable because it’s “vintage”. People could get a more modern bike with much newer 105s for that much money. If it was a colnago or something kt would have value but this is just a mass produced bike by a company without a great reputation anymore.

  2. It looks like a team pro to me. Probably a little overpriced but a great bike. I have one from 1976 setup as a commuter and I love it

Gorgeous bike but impractical to your needs. And sure they don’t have the reputation anymore but this is a classic and worth the money to someone sentimental for the era. 4-500 should be able to get you a proper commuter from a bike shop. Look for disc brakes and fatter tires,an aluminum frame. Fenders might be extra.
