I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the Grand Depart of this year’s Dark Divide 300, which took place last week. For those who don’t know, the route starts in Olympia, Washington, heads east to the center of the Cascade Mountain Range, then south eventually heading back west to finish in Portland, Oregon. The route traverses through some of the most remote and beautiful riding in the area, and I thought I’d share some of the photos of the ride, enjoy! 🙂

That’s incredible! Must be quite the experience. Pardon the ignorance, but what do you do about possibly dangerous wildlife – like bears and cougars?

Bikepacking and touring is probably the only way I’m gonna see a small chunk of the world. To that end…
What bike brands have the greatest number of frame packs available for them?
And which brands make the most robust pannier racks? The one shown in these shots looks solid. I’d wanna get one with four points of contact, but understand I’d be looking for a frame with the necessary mounts. I guess I’d wanna avoid the rack design which connects to the seat post… seems less sturdy and more prone to sway, maybe?
