The U is a bit bent so it’s harder to get in and out of the shackle. Must have been a hefty cutter to bend this. Bike is a vintage Schwinn Varsity I got for $60. Abus Granit was $73. Do I buy another lock or just keep it and be annoyed at the difficulty locking and unlocking due to the bend?

You will definitely regret it if you don’t buy a new lock
Was it spread open by a small hydraulic floor jack or something like that?
A crowbar may have used to try to pop it open? Maybe bend it back somehow. It did its job, good lock! It should be given a medal!
Don’t retire it, but maybe relegate it to a secondary purpose such as securing the front wheel to the frame.
Get a new bike chain lock. Tradeoff is that it’s a lot heavier and less convenient to remove, but way harder for thieves to break. I’m [personally using the kryptonite one that the Lockpickinglawyer](https://amzn.to/40O3GZI) recommends and having used it for my Ebike it’s amazing, you probably don’t need something this heavy though.
You can probably use something smaller like the [Kryptonite Keeper](https://amzn.to/40Rv1KL) and it’ll do the same job.
can’t you bend it backwards?
anyway, you could always buy another and use this one as a backup if it still works. 2 locks is better than 1
