note: GUYS PLEASE the bike is upside down because i don’t have a stand to show you how it looks the right side up.
When switching gears, sometimes it does smoothly, sometimes it doesn’t. When i’ve switched gear if i stop pedalling for a few seconds then pedal again, it “re-clinks”, the same typa clink when you change gear.
The bike is an XL Scott Aspect 960
Is the chain supposed to act like this?

Yes, the drive chain is just fine. But your brake rotor is rubbing and needs to be adjusted.
I’m sure you’d act a little off flipped upside down and told to act normally
FFS. You have the bike upside down. Get a bike stand if you want to check and adjust the gears. Do you ride upside down?
Also working on the bike upside down like this can encourage any air in the reservoir into your brake lines.
The bike is upside down and you’re turning the cranks at a very low cadence – don’t worry about it unless it behaves badly when you’re riding.
