Devon to Tuscany: Part 7 — A Birthday Rest Day in Carcassonne 🏍️🎂

A day off the bike today — and a special one, as it’s Sue’s birthday! Rich and Sue spent the day soaking up beautiful Carcassonne, with Rich giving the Honda GB350S a well-deserved wash after all those mountain miles.

Rich also runs through the equipment he’s got set up on the bike for the tour, plus a confession: that mysterious stalling issue he’d been blaming on the bike? Turns out it was actually the tank bag pressing on the kill switch the whole time. Mystery solved!

To celebrate the birthday, we treated ourselves to a lovely dinner at a restaurant with tables out on the cobbled street, just outside the medieval castle. A perfect way to mark the occasion after a tough few days in the Pyrenees.

Tomorrow it’s back on the bike as we continue south towards Aix-en-Provence!

📍 Location: Carcassonne, France
🏨 Stay: Hotel Le Parc
🏍️ Bike: Honda GB350S

A little birthday celebration, a bike mystery solved, before we’re back on the road — thanks for following along!

👍 Like, subscribe, and join us tomorrow as we head to Aix-en-Provence.

  1. Your " you plonker!" story reminds me of an rxs 100 I had back in my yoof that conked out every half mile and then started ok again after a few seconds.I tried EVERY THING then gave up and I just put up with it til finding out the problem. A partially blocked breather hole in the fuel cap. Fixed in 5 seconds!!
Then I had a 400 superdream that wouldn't start from cold unless I bumped it. I sold it for pennies due to this problem.
The new owner called round next day for the Haynes manual I promised him. He'd already fixed the problem. New spark plugs!
    Loving the vids, thanks!

  2. Bloody Honda fancy sticking a kill switch right there 🙄 don’t you just love a good supervisor who can watch hard work all day 🤣 great ending guys chill time. Funny re jackets, been riding 52 years in January 😳 never had a vented jacket not even in our years of touring but in the last two years it’s been hot enough for me to have bought 2 😳…… Pete 🇫🇷
