Join me for a bike ride around Clermont-Ferrand in the Puy-de-Dôme region of France.
The route starts in Clermont-Ferrand and heads north through Cébazat, Blanzat and Nohanent. Along the way, the ride combines city streets, quieter residential roads, gradual climbs, faster downhill sections and views of the surrounding hills.
Near Blanzat, I made a short detour to the Plan d’eau de la Vallée du Bédat, located between Blanzat and Nohanent.
🚴 Ride statistics:
Distance: 18.2 km
Elevation gain: 215 m
Moving time: 1:21:55
Average speed: 13.3 km/h
Maximum speed: 28.2 km/h
Maximum elevation: 507 m
📍 Full route:
Clermont-Ferrand → Cébazat → Blanzat → Plan d’eau de la Vallée du Bédat → Nohanent → Durtol → Clermont-Ferrand
⚙️ Difficulty: Easy to moderate
The distance is suitable for recreational cyclists, although the repeated climbs and 215 metres of elevation gain make the route more demanding than a completely flat city ride.
Unfortunately, the camera battery ran out near Nohanent, approximately halfway through the ride. I continued through Durtol and completed the full 18.2 km route back to Clermont-Ferrand, but the final part of the journey was not recorded.
There is no commentary in this video — only the atmosphere of the ride, real road sounds and background music.

Unfortunately, the camera battery ran out near Nohanent, so the final section through Durtol was not recorded. I still completed the full 18.2 km route back to Clermont-Ferrand.

Which part would you like to see in a future ride: the city streets, the climbs or the quieter roads around the Vallée du Bédat? 🚴
