Patrick calling out UAE domestiques as not being good enough because he’s salty that Visma will leave this Tour with nothing more than a TTT stage win.
If Del Toro wasn’t in this race, Pogacar would have won 8 stages
Pog was doing the Hinault-LeMond hand hold thing. And he wants to bring up Del Toro so he has a better domestique next year.
Did Del toro ever put his face in the wind? I can't remember this event happening.
What has truly impressed me in this TdF – 1) Pederson in the mountains and the intermediate sprints, truly impressive, 2) Carapaz – great relentless efforts especially in week 3, 3) Remco – impressive performance and impressed that he did not crack at any point, proved something to me as a true grand tour contender, 4) Lenny Martinez – under rated GC rider, great result.
Props for the deep Sacramento reference, from a fan in Sac 🙂
In Benji's defence Patrick, you are indeed a little Broe 🤣
Montematre will be a disaster if it is raining. Last year in the rain few riders were willing to ride the final.
Best bromance in cycling history Del Toro and Pogacar haha noone gonne be able to stop these guys for yeeeaaaaars.
So, we all agree remco can climb now, right?
Patrick should go to the Pogi challenge in Slovenia for punishment, would love to see that:D
benji letting patrick choose his consequence for losing is like pogi being del toro’s domestique, no?
Question, you guys said Seixas could have moved up into 3rd if he had teammates pace on the Galibier, I don't really understand that logic because clearly the results show he wasn't as strong as del toro today? Pog only started really pacing Del Toro after Seixas had dropped. Sure Pog's pacing made the gap bigger, but I don't think there is any world where Seixas could've beaten Del Toro today. I could be wrong though?
Keep enjoying Benji – we adore
How would this stage have played out with Jonas still in the tour? If Pogis team is sick would he have been alone on Galibier with Jonas, Kuss and Piganzoli? Could they have worked him over like in the past or is he too strong for that?
Pedersen took it easy after the IS because he is a potential winner of stage 21, I think. No need to make a Danish conspiracy theory lol
Here is a thought. Maybe the best explanation is that Pogacar decided to race the Vuelta and the worlds. If he wins those and decides to ride and win the Giro in the spring, he will hold all three GT titles and the rainbow jersey concurrently which puts him in Merckx territory 🤷🏻♀️
Couldn’t care less about the yellow Jersey, but all the other Jersey battles have been great
This is Jonas fault, if he doesn’t crash out Tadej can’t do this domestique ish
The riders IDT is competing against are leaders or co leaders of their teams so they have had 6 or 7 guys working for them and pacing them for 3 weeks. UAE obviously works for Pogi so IDT has had little help specifically for him compared to his competitors. If UAE want to keep a rider of this calibre on the team, they have to offer him some support because other teams are going to be saying ‘come and ride for us and be sole leader with a team to work for you.’
Can someone explain to me how a GC "Top 5" contender such as Ayuso can't climb with some breakaway riders?
My Aussie wife got the tweeds head reference 😂
Punishment: Patrick must wear full UAE kit (at least jersey& cap) for Vuelta prep show (1+ hr). Not 30 sec like the dino costume
Pog and Remco were not catching Carapaz on the final uphill …. So chance for a good photo op …. Also …. What better recruiting pitch for Seixas to join UAE
Jai Hindley is white chocolate, that is my takeaway
Lenny barely a minute from taking 4th place from Paul Siexas
in fairness to decathlon they tried sending Benoot up the road but he crashed on the descent off Croix-de-fer
24:30 unfortunately this is true. If you ever drove a car with the auto break system you'd know
Pog being the best Domestique in this race is too funny.
One of the 7 Gold Coasters here ❤was out in Murwillumbah this morning 🙋
I was so upset with Tadej! Is he going to babysit Isaac for the next three years! 🤷♂️ He gave up 3 stages this year! He could be 3 stage wins closer to the record!!
The White Chocolate referance was awseome.
Punishment could be that Patrick has to do an epic compilation of del Toro.
Is Ayuso not burning to many matches in the 1st half of the TDF??
The Poggi carrying Del Toro over the mountains i see in the same light as MVDP leading out Jasper. Would Jasper win without MVDP
I already miss your TdF-stage recaps .. now its just Tour of Quinghai Lake and Lombardia
Ayuso never worked for anyone when he was on UAE. He's getting what he deserves
Patricks punishment should be he has to wear a UAE kit every time he goes riding until the world champs
Why should Mads help Ayuso attack his own teammate? Also after destroying himself to get to the breakaway, he needed to save himself for tomorrow. 🤷♂️
I will preface this by saying del Toro is literally my favorite rider in the peloton, but when are we going to acknowledge the del Toro vs Ayuso flirting vs harassment aspect of this Tour ? Ayuso in 2024 did one single five minute pull on Stage 4 and then protected his GC until he got sick and pulled out, and his reward was literally being kicked off the team. Del Toro did one single five minute pull to lead out Tadej on Stage 3 and has been rewarded with a gifted stage win and Tadej literally sacrificing two other stage win opportunities to protect IdT's GC. Again I love Isaac but the dual narratives around the two are hilarious
Pogi and UAE just showed Ayuso what could have been if he did not leave the team. Never to piss off your team
You'd be right to criticize UAE if the goal was to win the stage but that was not the goal. Nils and Felix said it on a German channel. Their goal was to make sure Del Toro kept the white jersey and the podium place. In the end, they finished securing both with over 2 minutes advantage. That was the battle today and they won it. Pogi had to pull longer than he expected because the rest of the team were burnt. Del Toro finished the job with Seixas and kept the pace set by Pogi to avoid Remco's attack till it did not put his position at risk. Total success with a team that was suffering & hanging by a thread.
Before Benji posts any tierlist, let me go out and say that Cofidis, Groupama and Lotto made an excellent case for the Rockets to be invited next year. 🤣
11:17 We know who white chocolate is, don't worry lol
Oh come on guys – literally some of the worst takes you've ever had. How can you spend so much time being outraged and wildly speculating why Pogacar rode for Del Toro? You don't have to speculate! They both said it in pretty clear plain english after the race: It's a team sport. Tadej was riding for his team and to support his team mate. Did he jeopardize his overall GC place by doing that? No. Would he have jeopardized his GC place and put the overall win at risk if Del Toro suffered even more? No. At the end of the day, Tadej riding with Del Toro to the finish was not about a nice photo (oh come on), but rather about sportsmanship and supporting your team mates in exactly the same way they would do for you (that's literally what he said – take it at face value). It literally cost Tadej nothing and only helped cement a feeling and culture within the team that Tadej has your back. There was so much more interesting things happening in the stage to talk about than that.
Make him do Alpe Huez as punishment
Thank you both for always completing my races. I never miss a podcast- even if I can’t always respond now. You always share a view on something that I find interesting!! Looking forward to hearing what Patrick chooses.
I am glad you guys pointed out the strangeness of Pog riding for Del Toro after all of Del Toro's positions were secured.
