  1. Probably the best final day in Paris I've seen on the TDF! That was something I've never seen before, MVP wanted it the most and deserved to take the Paris stage…..electrifying!!!! Jasper's expression on the line said it all. Wow! Breathtaking!

  2. He's a doper. Anyone with any knowledge of athlete's knows full well he HAS to be. Out of season testing every week is the only way to clean it up
Testing during events his chemists and minders know ways round it. The testers are being made to look fools

  3. Greatest finale ever seen!!!?? No. Greg lemond in 1989 against Laurent fignon decided the tour. This just decided a stage. Great finish though.

  4. MVDP is my favorite cyclist (current generation ). This was beautiful to watch. Very much in agreement with the ‘absolute cinema’ comments.

To quote Mark Cavendish (Tour de Force): “ (re: 2021 TDF, Stage 2) Mathieu van der Poel. The Dutch phenomenon had taken the yellow jersey too, riding the whole 25-kilometre finishing circuit on his own, then having enough power left on the final hill to hold off not only Julian, but Primož Roglič and Tadej Pogačar… What can you do when Mathieu van der Poel does that? Just admire it, that’s all.”

What a cyclist MVDP is. Such a treat to watch him and everyone else at the tour this year.

  5. Today fully supported my view that many stages are far too long and therefore become VERY boring. Happily a big chunk of today's stage was cancelled … and what a race we got! Hooray!! JP, Cheltenham, UK.

  6. Hands down the worst tour de France in history, it was honestly like watching a theatre version of what the tour is like , the real thing but absolutely shit and predictable, the people cheering for this should be ashamed of yourselves, ye wouldn't know good racing if it paid ye to

  7. The French ‘discovered’ the Monmartre hill and its spectacular effect on the race during the 2024 Olympics. Last year Wout Van Aert won it after he countered a Pogacar attack in the climb, Pogacar finished second. This year the distance between the top of the hill and the finish was increased by 4 kilometers. I think the organization should return to last year’s layout, since this year the increased distance killed Pogacar’s effort and almost killed Van Der Poel’s effort. If the layout stays as it is this year, an attack on the climb at Monmartre will be discouraged because the risk of being countered during the descent and the final lap on the Champs Elysées is too high.

  8. What the hell was doing the Decathlon team on the last kms? Didn't they see they were helping Philipsen and Pedersen?
Fortunately one of the two on the breakaway won. Well deserved by MvdP, what a beast!!

  9. Pogi and Mathieu are two very good friends and for sur Pogi helped Mathieu to win brillantly, Pogi knew that Mathieu was better and fresh tahn him for that finish but nonetheless he gave everything he still have, hat's of for both, Pogi is a true gentleman

  10. In France we have changed 15 times of government format in 210 years, from King to the first republic to Napoleon, to the return of the king, then the second republic then another emperor and so on until now the 5th republic, we love to change. That's why I can tell you that we will never go back to the old format for the last stage of Tdf and we will enjoy some more nice ultimate finish but today MDVP and Pogi wrote a new page of legend of the Tdf. Fantastic race.

  11. Some fantastic battles in this Tour, especially this one – no argument there. But the war itself was over before it began. Claiming that this Tour was fantastic is like claiming that Titanic is a fantastic film – yes, they have some spectacle, are popular, and have various records associated with them, but it's delusional to think that they represent some sort of high water mark in their field.

  12. I`ve never seen anything like this in my 25 years of watching Tour de France. What an epic win for MVDP.

I really hope the Montmartre hill will stay in the future, it has given more entertainment in two years than the dull pure Champs Elysees circuts ever has. There is a chance for the breakaway riders, the mass sprinters, and then THIS. A perfect course for a final stage.
