Former England footballer and manager Kevin Keegan has died at the age of 75.
In a statement, his family said: “It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75. The former England player and manager had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.
“Kevin, a double Ballon D’or winner, was a much loved husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support.
“This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy.”
The former Liverpool player and Newcastle manager revealed he had cancer in January 2026.

I met him once with Mike Shannon in Dublin Airport, many years ago. R.I.P. Kevin Keegan.
I was a Man Utd fan back when Keegan had his rant and I have clowned on him as much as anyone over the years for it – but that is beyond disrespectful to bring up now.
That is entirely shameful, but I guess I can't expect any different from you "legacy" media Monsters at this point.

I saw him 1980 at Nürnberg in the Bundesliga playing with HSV against 1.FC Nürnberg.
He was a sight for sore eyes, super quick , explosive , hardly to stop .

What a fantastic career he had! My dad showed me a photo of the two of them from the late 70s the other day and told me what a wonderful man Kevin was to spend time with.
For me, though, the most important (and impressive) thing is that he was a man of God. Despite all of his success and wealth, he remained faithful to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We're all going to die one day, but for those who belong to Christ (including Kevin), death isn't the end; it's just the beginning of a new and glorious life. I believe his character was a true reflection of his faith, and he was a fine example of a Christian man.

Kevin Keegan was a true legend of the game. He will be missed by the football world and by the fans of the clubs he represented. I really hope when the time is right that Asif Kapadia who directed the fabulous “Senna” & “Maradona” documentaries directs a film on Kevin Keegan. May he rest in peace
