After completing The Rift in 2024, I came back to Iceland for another go, but this year was a completely different experience.
From volcanic gravel and river crossings to snow, relentless headwinds and more hike a bike than I ever expected, The Rift pushed me to my limits.

Great video Stuart, well done mate. I totally get how you feel pre-ride. I experience something similar. Now, if you are able to swap shifts and are looking for something easier, the MORAY100 is now only 2 weeks away. You would be most welcome. Thanks for sharing š

That looked like another epic adventure ride with the snow and extra hills added to the mix from 2024. š³
No shame in walking some of those steep hills on such a long ride. Iām certain I would have been right there on foot with you had I made it this year.
I do recall walking a handful of the steeper hills in 2024. I wore wool socks in 2024 and found my feet never got to cold after the river crossings and my shoes did not smell as bad as when wearing wet cotton or synthetic socks!
To bad they are not giving sandwiches at the later feed stations anymore or handing out a patch and a beer at the finish.. š¢
The patch is a nice souvenir or token for finishing the race on time!

Great video and awesome effort, looked grim at points but your cracked on and got it done. Does seem a bit stingy on the stuff, no loos at the start and not a lot for your entry fee, then as you mentioned Iceland is not exactly cheap. I'd love to give it a go but unfortunately for me I think I'm priced out for what it is.
That squeaky brake would have done my head in long before any of the climbs…
