I guess you never read The Onion, America’s Finest News Source TM? It seems pretty straightforward, he does sarcastic cartoons. Check out some of his other work, I especially love when he has “Sickos” laughing at the supposedly awful behavior. Lady Liberty always aghast.

The Onion’s Stan Kelly cartoons are all a parody of right wing cartoonists.

They make fun of how conservative Republicans see the world, the joke being that it’s literally cartoonish.

A friend saw it posted on IG from an anti-bike group and supposedly was actually complaining about free donuts for cyclists only. I hope he’s wrong.

  5. The people in the car the “regular folks who drive cars” might also be upset there’s no white history month. the cartoon is sarcasm and your FB boomer missed the joke.

  6. Stan Kelly does parodies of obnoxious right-wing political cartoons for the satirical “news” site, “The Onion”. The real cartoons in question often have no connection to the real world, but a perceived “liberal” (or leftist) strawman.

This one is “saying” (again, a parody) that people who participate in “bike to work day” are given preferential treatment to the “regular” car folks. It’s not actually hostile to anyone other than the cartoonists/readers of right-wing political cartoons. The JOKE is that, if it were a *real* political cartoon it would be making fun of cyclists and “commie commuters”.

Whoever posted this on Facebook likely didn’t understand the joke and agreed with the absurdist worldview. We call that “eating the Onion”.

  7. Just a parody putting all those Nextdoor and FB arguments into black and white. No one who rides a bike is trying to save money getting to work. Everyone who volunteers is a smug liberal. Only people who drive cars are upstanding citizens. Bikes are causing the increase in gas prices.

Only rich people can afford to live within cycling distance to work. Therefore the whole cycling community should be hated and all “reasonable,” “jesus-loving” motorists should hate bike lanes.

Are you sure the person who shared it “ate the onion” or are they in on the joke?

I love the title on this one the best, “Vicious Cycles” lol

Looks like someone saw a bike community coffee and donut thing and got jealous about it so they made a weird comic about it lol
