Let’s be real. Its not the DOT. Its the Republican Party. And the quote is really odd because it the conservatives forcing everyone into living in shoebox apartments, eating industrial food thats not food, and generally selling this country out bit by bit to corporations and and foreign powers

federal wording actually matters more than people realise. when DOT strips bike lane language from guidance docs, state DOTs use that as cover to delay or cancel projects theyve been dragging their feet on anyway. saw it happen locally when our regional plan quietly dropped a protected lane after a round of “federal review” last year.

the MTB crowd often thinks bike infrastructure is just a roadie thing, but trail access and trailhead parking get caught up in the same funding fights. rode in DC last spring and seeing how protected the city feels vs anywhere in the southeast was pretty stark. whoever thinks removing words from a website wont change anything on the ground doesnt understand how bureaucracy works.
