Funny, as much as I love this video, how badly it has aged. Bike makers are falling all over themselves to get 55c clearance on everything after 2025 records dropping on MTB tires.
Now cover the differences between road bike riders and gravel bike riders. The big difference I've noticed is the incessant need for gravel bike riders to let everyone know they're gravel bike riders.
Grail- currently have a Specialized Diverge That has had multiple changes and upgrades

Was surprised not to have frame geometry as topic in here, regarding differences in stack and reach, hence speed and comfort and weight distribution. Expected it to be in the "comfort" section. But the comfort section just explained the difference between Grail and Grizl seatposts, which is only a tiny part of what makes a bike comfy or fast.
The video feels more like a Canyon ad then a comprehensive guide on general gravel bike differences, to be honest.
Grizl
Bought a Grizl last month. Chain rusted in less than 53 km. My wife's 3 yr old Scott bike went through same routes, clean and lub process but no rust present. What's worse is the pathetic after sales service waving me off by accusing me of wetting the chain and not drying it proper or else swimming in the ocean with it ! Im a vet cyclist and still own and maintain my last seven bikes in decent condition. Certainly none of the oldies have rusted chains ! Im not even a month old client and am already an ex client. Won't be touching Canyon with a link pole. You have been warned.

Is it down hill bike material
I want aero socks but dont want to pay for them. Adventure my answer.
As a daily 30mi commuter and beginner triathlet, the grizl is fine for both jobs, whereas the grail i assume forces me into a race all along position.
Having just gone through this decision process it was reassuring to hear your perspective Si! I am even more excited now for “new Grizl day” in the next week or so. Thanks. Awesome video as always.
Out of these two bikes, what would you ultimately choose to do the Badlands race/event?
I just bought a used Grizl with an aftermarket stem that is raised for extra comfort. Looking forward to putting on the miles.
Grail seems to me a sub category of a gravel bikes which you need to have a specific requirements to have one. In my opinion grail is a road bike with fat tires. I think grizl is a more complete gravel bike which covers most of gravel definitions. You can go on gravel routes, you can do bikepacking, there are bag attachments and you can still be fast on tarmac roads. I will go for Grizl.
