Started cycling in earlier this year for STP.
Did about 300 in May and 460 in June.
I like cycling – STP went very well for me.
Was on a Giant bike from Recycled Cycles – not sure the type of model the bike is (see attached photo). No flats during training or event, so, I think I’ll get another Giant brand bike.
I’m getting a proper bike fitting from Métier on Friday.
I’ve looked at Giant’s road bikes and I think the Defy series checks the boxes (including what I’m willing to pay).
Curious if: 1.) Giant Defy would be a good bike (I’m looking to do duathlons and triathlons , 2.) would the “ML” or 56cm – 58cm frame be OK for me (I’m 5 feet, 11 inches), and 3.) if the Giant Defy is no good, what would be a good comparable?

  1. At 5’11” I don’t think I’d be looking at 58cm frames. I think the Defy may be categorized as an endurance bike. I have a Specialized Roubaix that is categorised the same.

Giant is a good brand. You usually can’t go wrong with them. The Defy is Giant’s endurance road bike. If you want to comparison shop a bit, you could also check out the Trek Domane, Specialized Allez, and Cannondale Synapse.
