  1. I would prefer the eight gear hub instead of the eleven gears, as they don't need oil changes. But in Europe there are a ton very similar to this bike, but with fenders and rack 😉

A paint stick was the norm with the better Gazelle frames 40 years ago ;D

  2. For sure, IGH for the win for all rounders. They were way over $2,400C in Edmonton. And nice they have a near level top tube.
Broom handle bars suck first off. Clip pedals are nuts. 38 mm tire is plenty.
Velocity Dyad rims for the WIN, 18.9 mm inner I think. One of mine with gRim brakes got the sidewall gouged by mud on tour in China.
So I just put on a new Dyad rim.
I sawed up the old one to examine it. It had an over 7" crack above the brake track that was squeaking for 300 miles, but NONE of the spoke holes had the slightest crack after 22,000 miles. NO stupid eyelet rims on my heavy IGH bikes.
NO gooping around tubeless for me. I go years with my Schwalbe Marathon Plus, 35 and 38 mm.
For dyno hubs nothing beats my SA XL-FDD dyno drum brake that easily lasts 32,000 or more miles in ANY conditions. Half the cost of SON.

  3. Looks like a great commuter. The only thing separating this bike from "fantastic" is the lack of a direct mount for an EU-style rear axle kickstand: KSA mount, I think its called.

  4. Okay, Priority now offers the Apollo flat bar gravel bike which is sooo close to this here Spot Acme as far as specs go. As of today, the Apollo Flat Bar goes for $1,700 and the Spot Acme goes for $1,600.

Has anyone out there had experience with either? Both? Perhaps the Apollo drop bar? How do they compare? If ya gotta have one, then which???

  5. I have a 2016 Whyte Stirling, which looks very like the Spot. But I'd love the belt drive – possibly with an Enviolo hub.
I upgraded to a hub dynamo when I bought the bike – best thing I ever did!
I also added aero bars as it is windy where I ride, mudguards (commuting without them is madness), and a rear rack for panniers.

  6. This bike is so not my thing. I'll give them credit for going off the beaten path though. I'm getting ready to convert my commuter bike, a Kona Rove which I already converted to a 1×10, to a flat bar. I think that will increase the fun factor on that bike a good percent.

  7. I dont like personally like flat bar bikes for commuting. Flat bars and my shoulders dont get on when I ride every day.

  8. It certainly not the "best" commuting bike if it doesn't come with proper fenders!
I drive almost every day also during winter & fenders are a must if you dont wanna reach ur destination covered in crap.

  9. Sure, check priority bicycles. Bikes from children to grown up, city communities to touring and everything between. Also from folders to electric and from sturmy archers to enviolo to pinion IGH and belt drives.

  10. Flat bar absolutely SUCKS for road riding..!! You are going to need a drop bar and if also doing some off road gravel riding, a wider drop bar. Flat bar ONLY for true mountain bike riding with you actively controlling every moment.

  11. Looks cool but my CAR was only $2500… Ain't no way I'm ditching my trek 930 (that I got for $15 at a yard sale) any time soon with bikes being so insanely expensive.

With the bike parts companies making things as cheap as the can idk why bikes get more expensive every year instead of less other than pure corporate greed.

  12. Maintenence free it is not. All the belts after some time start to make noises and need to be washed, then re-alligned, then you have to buy dry silicone for them and so on… But yes, less mess than a chain

  13. Already loved the vid on finding the right bike, now you show this total beauty…thaaanks man, you're turning out to be my lifesaver, fell in love with the ACME ❤ Spot seems muy sympatico, just hope they ship to Germany
