Just finished building up this frame from State Bicycle Co. It's their Carbon Road.

I've taken it on a few rides now and I really like it. It's very stiff in a good way. Power transfer is immediate. I've only ridden one other carbon frame and that is the Light Carbon LCG071 and that frame felt very "flexy" relative to this one.

I bought the "complete" bike from State with the SRAM 2×12 AXS Rival E1 groupset. I use complete in quotes because it ships as a frame in one box, wheels in another, and a third that's everything else. So the build process is identical to building from the frame up which is a bit different from other DTC brands which come 80% assembled. I've bought State's 4130 All-Road and their 4130 Trail and those come 80% assembled, but this bike does not.

There were a few hiccups in the build, but nothing major. Biggest complaint is that it came with zero documentation on building it up. It also shipped with two headsets and a handful of extra pieces that weren't used that just confused the building process.

I think the finish on the frame is honestly so sick. It's so much better in person. I think it looks great in photos but it looks even better in person.

I'm running Elite Wheels with 30mm Pirelli P Zero Race set up tubeless at 70 psi and a Ryet saddle. I used Supacaz Splat Oil Slick bar tape. Otherwise everything is stock.

That purple finish really is a stunner in the sun, photos don’t do it justice. Curious how it compares to your other States on longer rides.

  2. Finish is stunning.
I didn’t see any guide tabs for the hydro hoses, how’d running them go?
