I've been cycling the past year from UK to Indonesia and decided to get off the beaten path in the final country.
Baluran National Park in NE Java didn't have a connecting on the map but I could see a faint trail on google satellite view, so decided to go for it. Camped with the rangers and they said I was the first foreigner they've seen crossing that part of the park.
Mausui Savannah on Flores was similar, there's nothing on the maps but I could see a few faint shepherd trails. Amazing experience, I wonder if anyone has ever been here on a bicycle before, I couldn't find any reports online. The handful of local shepherds seemed completely baffled to see me.

(Plus a bonus photo of probably the best sunrise camping spot I'll ever get @ Mt Bromo on Java!)

  1. Awesome! I have been very close to that Bromo spot, but I took the easy way there 🙂

Ok I was impressed by that beach, but then I saw the last picture. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a more stunning camping spot.
