On the cost:
20% of everything goes to the UK government.
He's also got the overheads for the shop – rent, business rates, utilities..
Beyond that, a skilled bike mechanic should be earning similar money to any other trade – plumber, plasterer, electrician. Perhaps more, because they're much rarer.
Yes. I own a bike shop.
What are the pads called you put on the handlebars?
17:20 I always use so much grease in Vietnam to protect bearing , bolt , alu part , etc
Isn’t there an easier way to get some pedros into the video, other than using a multitool whip in your shop? 😂
What type of cleaner did you use to get everything so clean?
Bro you should produce his videos, this is elite.
The rise on those redshift bars is nice, but I just got a set of Ritchey Corralitos that have a nice rise for…half the price? Suuuuper wide, too
I love anti seize on threads. I don't want them greased per se because I don't want them moving, but in my experience it makes things much easier to remove in the future.
That‘s not a service, that‘s a restoration or total rebuild. 1000 is a total labor overcharge for any bike shop doing this work, especially one that trashes the client like here.
Video should be called “Nic moans about customers for 46 minutes” 😂
Love it though. This is why I do all my own maintenance – lower cost and I can keep on top of it and always have a smooth ride.
which motorex cleaner is he using?
Hi Josh, can you please share where you bought the cycle carrier? Seems sturdy for a long bikepacking trip
I wrote thousands of miles on the GDMBR in 2023 and then turned around and rode another couple thousand in Europe in 2024 . On my salsa Fargo. Never changed anything…
"Gloves are bad for the environment" – leaves the water flowing 😂👌.
Nice vid tho!
Disc brakes ruined the look and the weight of this bicycle absolutely 😢.
Only idiots spent that kind of money to service a Bicycle.
This is so much better than watching the news 🍿
Well if the bike get´s that Rusty, Brakes or Parts are already worn down in the guarantee time ,yes i want them replaced free of cost. Chains, Break Pads and the Bike in general should withstand thousands of miles and weather conditions for 24+ Months with less effort it would take to keep a Car running. I did not say none, cleaning every few weeks and oil on the chain and a flat is fine but that´s it everything else should be covered by warranty under regular use.
Let Nic know that I’ve ordered the Pedro’s multi-tool to start using in the shop. I had a Park one lying about that I’ve been using as a proof of concept and it is super convenient and feels good in the hand.
Was the bar replacement at request? Just wondering bc they seemed fine.
How many years working on bikes to get to that level of expertise?
Hi. What brand soket are you using on the DT star ratchet rings with the power tool at 26:40? Many thanks
The price of this service is absolutely outrageous. For that price, in South Africa, I can almost buy a brand new full Shimano 105 Di2 groupset – nevermind the fact that for that price I can pretty much buy a new bike every year instead of servicing. Is this just what its like in the UK? if so then cycling will not last long as a hobby – making it exclusive to the rich folks.
Why doesnt he like pannier racks?
Jeez can you complain about anything anymore mate. Hope this is satire!
New handlebar? New jockey wheels? I've gone years; done multiple gravel races with the same bike.
I like the travel videos but this mechanic stuff turns my stomach.
Yes, look after your bike. Keep it clean. But even if you don't, unless something is broken, there's no need to spend a thousand pounds on a tune up after an expedition. You've been had (again and again by this guy so it seems!)
This mechanic knows one thing above all else: a mark when they walk into his shop!
I initially thought it was a £1,000 bicycle being serviced lol
Just started following your channel – great stuff BUT you lazy, lazy fucker – getting the mechanic to take off your bags 🤣🤣🤣
Nic has to be the grumpiest bike Mechanic I have ever seen but I love him. He says things with a grin. I would be grinning to with a $1500 bill. lol Great video
I hope Nic starts making building an servicing video's (maybe on his own channel to).
I've tried watching his non speaking ASMR video's but as an aspiring home mechanic i really enjoy him explaining what he is doing and advising how to service parts the best.
another great video wth @NicVieriMechanic …love how matter of fact he is (totally justified)…and love the bike wash station…sadly now I want one
I would happily ride a bike that's cheaper brand new than this service. Mental
any chance we could get a "Nic's method for bleeding SRAM brakes" video?
46 mins of pure moanin ASMR, love it!!
9:23 ten years and he still amazes you
First spray, than rinse! If you pre-rinse the bike, the solving of the dirt is not that effective
How are these cable of the hydraulic brakes guided towards the stem? Mine has 1mm of space left at the lower spacer of the headset (the very flat shim that can expand or shrink under pre-load of the stem). Is that correct? Looks like a perfect place for dirt to get inside the bearing area…
Thank you Josh!
The receiving of ALL the shame, shame, shame…😂😂😂
Mr complain a lot, dang
