I carefully removed the rear hinge spindle while maintaining a used Brompton I bought. I wish I hadn't as play was really minimal (2mm at the suspension block) but that's another story.

I've noticed the hole in the rear frame for the hinge has a small 0.5cm notch in it.

Is this common imperfection on Brompton frames or do I need to address it?

I know this is a critical part so don't want to have a catastrophic failure.

Thanks

I see two notches my presumption it was whacked with a tool at some stage it won’t cause you any issues I don’t think.

  2. It is normal for a used bike to have dents and paint chips. What year was it built? In the hole it looks like it was never lubricated. I’ve never seen one appart new, to know what it should look like, but it looks rough to me.
