Leave town for a bit if you can. We have had that in California and the smoke is awful. There’s no escaping it other than leaving town for a week or two.
Definitely don’t ride in it.

Wear an N95 when you are out in this!

Iām fortunately off work today and am staying home in a closed up house (hanging out in the basement -no AC ). If I really have to go out it will be on the bus with a KN95 mask. Stay safe everyone in the affected areas!

Didn’t ride yesterday or today. Hopefully it clears up enough so I can ride tomorrow.

That’s the irony. I’m least likely to bike to work on spare the air days. I used to want a powered respirator for days like this and then I realized I’m too lazy to ride with that kind of setup.

You made the right call. Tried powering through the smoke once in California and felt like Iād swallowed a cigar for a couple days.

At home with my HEPA filter for now. Hope I can go out later. Daddy needs his spin time. š

I biked, most of the smoke is missing me to the south today (Maine, US). The sun has been pretty orange the last couple of days, but itās mostly high altitude and isnāt really affecting conditions on the ground here.

I live in Montana where this is our reality for much of the second half of every summer. I hate to say this but you get used to it. That still doesn’t make it safe or healthy and I hate not being able to see clouds, incoming weather, the sky, mountains, etc. Its just a reality for us in the Rocky Mountain West. If we aren’t on fire, Canada is and it swoops down. But this summer is a mixed bag for the west. We have areas that are very dry and others that are getting lots of rain. But all that green stuff eventually dries out and gets to be really good fuels.

Absolutely mask up and give extra time so you’re exerting yourself less. Honestly, I just pushed my throttle instead of pedaling today.

AQI was 170 for me this morning. I’ll save biking for a less hazardous day. It was my first time driving to work in monthsĀ

The air quality was 681 this morning (hazardous) I took the ebike (throttle no pedal assist) instead of the acoustic to hopefully not be sucking down as much smoke. I didn’t have money to pay for parking so not much of a choice. It’s insanely bad in Detroit. Runny noise, chest pains, eyes watering.
