    Which of these 4 bikes would you choose for a long-distance world tour? (India)

    Hi everyone,

    I'm from India and planning a long-distance bicycle tour, hopefully a world tour in the future. My budget is around ₹20,000–₹30,000, and I've narrowed it down to these four bikes:

    Firefox Rapide 21S

    Triban RC100 Flat Bar

    Riverside 500

    Montra Trance Pro

    My priorities are:

    Reliability over thousands of kilometers

    Easy availability of spare parts

    Comfort for riding 80–120 km per day

    Ability to carry panniers and touring gear

    Good performance on both paved roads and occasional rough roads

    I know none of these are dedicated touring bikes, but given my budget, which one would you choose and why?

    If you've owned or toured on any of these bikes, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Also, if there's another bike under ₹30,000 that's significantly better for touring, please let me know.

      the only thing i can say it’s about the first bike, the triban

      i have the same bike myself and:

      – i would not use it for really long tours as it has a real bad gear ratio (single on the front 44T and a maximum of 28 T on the back), this makes it hard to climb even relatively shallow climbs (even without the weight of a loaded bike)

      – it is perfectly good for flat routes

      – the quality, i would say, it’s very good. In 3 years of owning it and cycling several thousands of km I never had mechanical problems and the maintanance needed is very minimal

      Also worth bearing in mind which of these bikes has the attachment points for luggage and racks …many bikes don’t. Bolt points. They usually look very similar to the bottle cage mounting bolts
      If you intend to cycle a heavily laden bike over rough terrain it will put a lot of stress on the frame.

      These are terrible choices for touring, you can’t cheap out if you want to ride long distance. Triban RC 120 is the minimum I’d go for but that is still an entry level bike and far from ideal. Decathlon has dedicated touring bikes that are pretty affordable.

      None. How did you come up with this choice? You are talking about a world tour, but seem to have none experience at all with bicycles and cycling. That doesn‘t add up at all.
