I wouldn’t recommend it. First of all, I don’t think this frame would allow for some more comfortable, wider tires. This means you’d need to run skinny tires at higher pressure which will translate to a lot of road chatter and vibration.

Second, this bike runs a smaller wheel size in front so you would have to pack extra tubes in two different sizes.

Third, it looks to have limited mounting points because it was intended to be a road bike and not so much for touring, so it’ll be a pain to figure out how to mount front and rear racks.

  2. Okay a couple things.

    1) steel vs aluminum frame depends on load and type of touring but this looks like pure road bike touring so either prob okay (i did my long tour with steel and recommend it but others have used aluminum).

    2) i would have a triple crank (“granny” gear) for tough climbs.

    3) depending where you go mudflaps or water protection is also key

    4) from what i read the terry models have smaller front and bigger back wheels. Yours seems similar. I would try for a more balanced wheel profile especially if using front and back panniers.

    5) a sturdy rack should be mounted and if it cant accomodate that i would go another way

    6) you are going to want a brooks leather saddle and you are also going to want to oil condition it with daily rides for a few weeks before your trip.

Only thing I’d worry about is having a wide enough gear range for your bike tour with supplies and hills. There’s a couple ways to get more low gears. A bike shop might be best for advising you about gearing, racks and tires. Also there are both front and rear racks that won’t require having them welded on.
Have fun! I remember my first tours about 15 years ago and it set me on lots of great adventures. For example , I toured in Japan this winter and Thailand the year before.

Nah, not if there is any real climbing, and you’ll be loaded with camping gear. Doesn’t have even close to low enough gears, and too heavy. If no big climbs and nothing but water bottles, sure knock yourself out.
