While checking on my tubeless setup on my MTB, I thought it might be a good time to upgrade to clik valves. I got the upgrade kit from Schwalbe. When screwed in the stems, they leave a gap (1- 1.5 mm). Is this a problem? I could not find a 'tolerance' rating anywhere. I tried them on Muc-off, DT Swiss and Newmen stems.

I recently put some on my other bike which had Schwalbe tubeless valve stems already, where the went all the way in.

  1. Naw, they just do that on some valves.

I’ve actually been thinking about buying some MUCH shorter valves (Aliexpress is great for this) because with the CLiK all you really need is enough space for the nut and then for the chuck to fit on.

Same on Zipp provided tubeless valves. I suspect it will look sleeker on Schwalbe valves for ex.

  3. It’s fine. They look like this on my Peatys valve but the tube and other tubeless valves from Schwalbe I also have screw fully in.

Doesn’t really seem to bleed any air though.

  4. They’ll seal fine, although I’ve seen some people have trouble with the valve core breaking at that spot. I’ve been running mine for a year or so without issues, but I haven’t had to use a hand-pump on them. I’m tempted to just buy some Clik stems for the next time I replace tires to avoid it, their stems must have a longer internal threaded section so the wide part of the core can seat fully.

  5. Mine are about like that too. I can’t wait til silca or somebody else can get in on the license and make higher quality ones.
