Took the bike out today and gear shifting was all over the place. Noticed my rear derailleur like this. Any ideas how that could have happened or how to fix? Thanks in advance

Something is up with the hanger. Start there.
Your derailleur / hanger need to be rotated back about 90 degrees
Hanger is out of position
I can’t draw for shit on my phone, but rotate the hanger like the purple line:

Looks like it got hooked on something and rotated forward. Loosen the hanger bolt, rotate back so the derailleur hangs straight down.
The little bolt that should keep the hanger in place is either snapped or missing all together.
