Today, I picked up my brand new C line 12 speed that I had shipped to a store. I had it shipped to a store because they promise to inspect it and do some set up out of the box. The store had it ready for me, and I rode about a mile when the chain for the internal gear hub detached. I returned to the store and they said the cable was stretched. They fixed the cable, and rode away a little wary. When I reached the metro station, I found that the front wheel would not latch onto the A frame and the bike would not stay folded if picked up. I returned to the store; they adjusted it; and I rode away angry. When I reached the metro, I successfully folded the bike and wheeled it about 10 feet when I noticed that one of the roller rack wheels was almost cracked in half. I rode home from the metro in a fury because within 1 hour of picking up my brand new expensive bike, I had 3 things that needed fixing.
I understand that Bromptons need adjustments straight out of the box, but that is exactly why I had it shipped to the store. I find this unacceptable quality control. I'm wondering if I should have Brompton replace the bike entirely and have it shipped to another store. Please share your thoughts.
