For my 40th birthday this year, a buddy of mine gifted me two classics that I have eyed in his garage for years. One is a 1997 Dyno Nitro (My exact bike in high school), the other was what I thought was a 1994 GT Mach one. But now I have run into a bit of a conundrum here. The frame stamp is "1891397 M1" which by all counts should put it at 89. It has dropouts on the fork stamped with GT, which I didnt think they did til later in the 90s? I know the actual 89 was chro-mo with blue and yellow decals, and 1991 it would have "BMX" in the 90s graphic under GT on the Frame sticker. I realize this could just be a total chop shop, but part of me thinks this just may be from the dark zone of 1990 where catalogs are rare. Thoughts? I can provide more photos as needed. Just let me know what you want shots of.

I think the GT is a mix of parts with nicer parts from a Pro Series on the Mach One
You’ve got a good friend. I think someone put 98 decals on that frame though. Serial is definitely 89 M1. You can see the original GT Mach One decals on bikes on BMXMuseum.com and you can order the correct decals from BMXProducts.com. I think GT started stamping forks around 84-85.
