    You’re missing a buckle on that strap in pic 1. Imagine the strap the other way around – with the Velcro facing outwards, the buckle goes on those two tails pointing forward, then the tails fold back over each respective side of the buckle and stick to themselves. I hope this makes sense.

    The wedge is pretty useless when the bag is empty. To find the right position you can open the bag and push to top up so the edge fits between the saddle rails.
    I ended up removing the wedge because tis function is somewhere between minor and nonexistent. You could use a stabilizer like the Topeak Back loader Wishbone instead.
