Can you cycle from Brighton to Paris in under 12 hours of riding time during a record-breaking heatwave?

That was the challenge I set myself: cycling 124 miles from Brighton Palace Pier in England to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, with temperatures pushing 40°C.

After catching the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe, I followed the famous Avenue Verte cycling route before taking the most direct route into the heart of Paris. What should have been a straightforward endurance ride quickly became far more difficult than expected, thanks to the extreme heat, mechanical issues, navigation problems, and a series of mishaps along the way.

Will I reach the Eiffel Tower within my 12-hour target, or will the heatwave end the challenge before I even make it to Paris?

  1. I'm up a a bit early for a Saturday here in Michigan. I'm watching you instead of getting my gardening done while it's cool!😂👏🤟

  2. Swap out google maps for komoot and choose rosd cycling as the option. It wont take you off road.

A ride of this magnitude you need the hi5 energy gels. I can do 30 miles on one gel after a long day where u just need a push

  3. So lovely to see you two again.Sorry your adventures did not go to plan. Perhaps you could try in the autumn of the year.I sincerely hope that your house hunting is coming along!

  4. Wow, I am so impressed! You had aome terrible obstacles with the tire and the food and the heat, let alone the very long distance. And you still made it under 12 hours in moving time. You needed those small breaks to maintain your health. Congratulations 🎉⚘️😊
