One of the questions I get asked most while travelling is, “How do you afford to keep travelling?” This is the answer… food deliveries.

Join me for a full day delivering food by bike around my hometown of Darlington as I try to earn £50 in one shift.. From waiting for orders to chatting with restaurant staff, carrying heavy shopping, cycling across town and trying to beat the heat, this is what a normal working day looks like between my backpacking adventures.

If you’ve ever wondered how delivery apps work, how much you can earn, or what it’s really like doing this job, this video gives you an honest look behind the scenes.

I am an older backpacker travelling the world proving that backpacking is not just for the younger generation.

  1. Great video Stu! As an American who knows Darlington well, it was enjoyable to see the place from your bike while you work. I’d love to see more videos like this! Drive safely and stay cool!

  2. Hi mate. Im from darlo also. You've delivered to me a few times. Im thinking about starting doing deliveries for uber so glad iv seen this vid 👍 just wondering if its a set price for a delivery whether your in a car or on a bicycle? Or do you get more in a car?

  3. How much on average would you hope to make for the week while you are back in the uk. I also travel around Asia from Jan to may most years spent a lot of time in cambodia also love Thailand Vietnam and Malaysia. I have house that I rent out so no problem with finances while travelling as long as my tenant continues paying. Loving your videos have been following your YouTube for a while now. Have a great day

  4. Offer to wear a promotional tee shirt for any of the establishments you're deliverng for for £5 a day, or whatever ( at the very least you'll get free tee-shirts) £25 per week might not sound like much but over 40 weeks =£1000. Happy Days, Stu!🙂
