Hey all,
So I’m upgrading from Caliburs to Thunderbolts and my existing Laguardia sprocket is not making it over the pressure fit ridge of the thunderbolt and so the sprocket is not sitting snug against the crank arm. There is a 4-5mm gap between them. Is there chance there was an older version laguardia that isn’t compatible with the Thunderbolts? They’re both 22m spindle. I can’t figure this out. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

it can be a tight fit, but muscle it on
The thunderbolts have a 22mm spindle that turns into a 24mm at the crank arm.. if your sprocket is 22mm it won’t fit..
It is a tight fit tho.. so if it’s a 24mm sprocket you’re gonna just need to bang it on.. what some people do is, put the spindle in a peg so the sprocket is sitting on top of the peg.. and then hammer on the crank arm pushing the spindle through the sprocket.. if that makes sense..
Get a lil sandpaper and clean the powder coat off the spindle.
Give it a lil tappy tap with a deadblow or rubber mallet.
Lube it up with a little bit of some grease.
They are intentionally tight.
Had to tap mine on recently, seems common
Got it! Huge thanks to everybody for your help. I wedged the spindle between two stacks of 2x4s and tapped it down with a rubber mallet. Holy shit that takes some work.
Next time, crank/spindle in the freezer, sprocket in the oven. Slide right on.
