“I wear lycra, that means I’m æro™ and a serious athlete, unlike those beer-chugging bums in loose-fiting rags!”

Yeah. Total Randy here. Went from not touching bikes in over a decade to a bike snob overnight thanks to gravel grinding.Instantly hooked on gravel… I liked MTB riding long, long ago. But features and trails really seem to have stepped up a bit from what I remember. Im over the hill now, what the kids call old. So I dont want to send it and risk ending up on the mend for months. But still want to be out in nature. Hate Lycra and skinny tires. Yet, always wanted to try drop bars and clipless shoes. Events that are more about riding with your friends and finishing the race. Know Im preaching to the choir here. But needed to get the thoughts this meme sparked out.

  3. Gravelbikes are just 90s Mountainbikes with dropbars, change my mind

    (90s mountainbikes were peak fun)

Hehehe, I like it.I have a gravel bike. I love it for actual gravel riding, and I love it for going birding by bike on dirt roads, for commuting on shit surfaces, etc. Its basically a faster touring bike or a slightly off-road road bike. Awesome.I have yet to enjoy it for single track or downhill or really rough terrain, though I have nothing against folks who enjoy that side of gravel. My ventures into technical terrain thus far have reminded me how much I loved my old GT Zaskar hard tail back in the late 90s / early 00s. If I were to get back into technical terrain, I have no doubt Id buy a mountain bike to do so 🙂

  5. I really like my gravel
Its faster then a hardtail on flat and light gravel
But slower on ruffer trails(if you have nuts out of steel then its fast too)
Its slower then a road bike but you can ride trails and ruff surfaces too wich is nice and important for me.
