Barcelona delivered another brilliant day of racing as Stage 2 of the 2026 Tour de France finished in the Catalan capital for the second day running.
The race exploded on the final climbs, with all of the biggest favourites battling it out at the front. But when victory was within reach, Tadej Pogačar chose not to sprint for himself, instead allowing a teammate to take one of the biggest wins of his career.
Ned Boulting, Lizzie Deignan and David Millar breakdown Stage 2.

A huge thank you for you guys being around for the Tour , it’s not the same without you. We’re only 2 days in and already that Rob Hatch is driving us nuts , we just cannot understand him . Such weired pronounciation just couldn’t understand him , didn’t know whether he was talking about a rider or a team or place , He completely ruined it for us
I’ve been “with you”, Ned since the Real Peloton days (even on that fateful Tour of Britain sportive in Somerset and Devon!) and I’m so overjoyed that you’re still bringing your amazing touch to the Tour coverage. Lizzie’s a more than adequate sub for Matt and, David, of course is still at his laconic, charming best. Thanks to all of you!
I feel sorry for all the people who bet their money with betting agencies on Pagacar to win this stage. They got ripped off
So miss you guys chatting through the afternoon on ITV4 each day – pure joy. So sad its all gone to TNT as its awful coverage and commentary. Sorry, but it is.
Fact check: the Colombian flag 🇨🇴 was caught in Quentin Pacher's disk brake, not his cassette.
Another brilliant podcast. Imagine bumping into Ned, Lizzie and David roadside – how good would that be?
In Slovenia we call it oleander…☺☺
My wife, RHS qualified, took one glance at the shrub of the day and said "oleander".
By a weird twist of fate, we met both Pete and Lizzie today! Thanks for chatting in the Manchester airport bus, Lizzie, and hope your luggage made it back safely!
So great to have you all on the pod, and to have your insights on substack too Ned 🙂 enjoy your caravan tat over the next couple of weeks. Prime prize are the Ibis pillows! Caroline and Sam
Fan of all 3 of you guys but just now found this production. The best post stage discussions I've come across ever thank you so much for putting these together. True to the name, you guys are so perceptive to the moment-to-moment human dynamics that occur in a bike race which make us love cycling so deeply. Keep up the good work!
What a fantastic show this was. Full of interesting discussion, humour and the fabulous last chat of memories and anecdotes. 😁
Saturday wasn't good for us with C5 highlights inaccessible on catch up until Sunday! Stage 2 was great however; we watched the full stage live in Welsh (we don't speak it but bless S4C!) with the start list & pics of team jerseys in my hand followed, albeit a few hours later, with the perfect after race review. 😊 Thank you all.
So glad you're all up for this – it really works. You'd have been sorely missed. Crack on!
After stage two, it appears being defensive is a disadvantage for Jonas and company. When the game gets hotter, Jonas will have to seize the initiative.
Jonas can't keep up with Torito attack and loosing the wheel and only crossing for Fourth ( without bonus second ) hm…. maybe he give too much for TTT 😢

Excellent coverage and a welcome addition to watching the race in welsh. Shame Lizzie can’t stay for the whole journey.
Big fan but had to unsubscribe from this and the podcast. Watching from Australia, stages finish about 1:30am so its disappointing to get any form of spoilers before I've caught the last hour the following morning.
The personal chemistry and knowledgeable analysis is brilliant, I just love this podcast. I watch the race on French TV, then listen to you guys with a coffee the next morning. I hope that you can keep doing it.
Loving the conversation about having done 24 tours media side / rider side and Lizzie riding Le Tour Femmes but it was the first time for all of you to be properly road-side / fan-side for a whole day and immersing yourself in the ludicrous joy of the Caravane du Tour. I confess I also watched some free coverage on another outlet, but didn't get the sense from there of what you said about Seixas puncture and the enormity of his ride pack to the GC group. Good stage 2. A demain.
ISAAC DEL TORO MEXICO 🇲🇽 👏
Name that shrub. Great new feature. * * * * *
There IS a science to bagging goodies from the caravan!
My partner and I stand either side of the road.
Best on a climb, especially just after a hairpin!
Last time we held our ca.ping chairs in front of us as a target. We scored lots of goodies!
Leaving the door of the campervan works too, after one stage we found all sorts of stuff in there!
Good luck snatching some bucket hats.
Fabulous podcast today – lets have more stories of Tours gone by!
These guys used to joke about podcasting like this. Now they have become their own joke…😕 I understand money needs to be made but I wish they had retained the informality of the nsf days!
Thank goodness for you guys C5 are awful
Don't talk about the causes of 'climate change' You have no idea what you are talking about.
Just found you. Great to hear familiar voices!
Fantastic to hear you all again! 🙏 I do subscribe to TNT because I like other sports too but I always watched the tdf highlights and I’m a subscriber to this channel and will watch each episode.
Cheers
Please somebody hire these guys and put them back on TV. I can’t even watch the Channel 5 highlights provided by TNT.
18:44 that's oleander!
I remember that day for David in Barcalona. It's the first thing I thought about when I heard the grand depart was happening there. I so wanted him to do it that day.
Thanks guys. I'm watching on C5, but I miss the old team and can't miss seeing/listening to you guys. Thanks a bunch 👏
NSF painted by numbers. You guys are the absolute bet in the world at what you do and these three weeks in July has longsince been my favourite time of the whole year. But one of the things I loved so much was how you pulled us into the world around the Tour, especially the history, the food, the sites, and the culture. The TdF isn't all about race analysis.
Great stuff. Thanks for asking the question about whether Pog might regret missing out on the bonus seconds and another win in his overall tally.
I've been listening since the ITV/NSF years, and it's so great seeing you all continue to cover the race. We can all close our eyes and imagine we're all still watching the TV.
I'm watching on Channel 5 but I hate it, their coverage is crap compared to yours. I don't know if I'll make it to the end…🙄
Question for David off the back of the brilliant tale of his valiant ride onto Barcelona today: I remember the men's TDF could spring surprises in the 90/00s but the peloton are so strong now with scientific and technological advances but what does he see as the biggest unspoken change since his years of competing that us mortals wouldn't realise? Always love your collective insights, it's a delight ❤
Great you are around in some form. HBO commentary does not match your years of excellence. Offer a package to HBO or C5. Could you not do a live radio/podcast so I can switch the sound off on the TV and listen to you as the soundtrack.
I can’t believe this channel only has 10k subs. Probably the best channel covering the TDF. Two voices as synonymous as Phil Liggett to cycling.
The pod kept me going on the M6 last night after our flight back from Barcelona. Fab to meet Lizzie and have a chat on the airport shuttle bus. Thanks for your time and i hope your onward journey went to plan! Thanks again for all the insight and laughs #ftloc
