I recently had a puncture and fitted a new TPU tube, after inflating I noticed a very slight bump on the tyre.
When I took the tyre off the tube was completely deformed, is it because of the way I fitted the tube (possibly twisted?) or is it just a defective tube?
Thanks

Thats so strange
I also had the same experience with a few ridenow tubes. That part just doesn’t expand, so you’ll need to pick the exact size for your tires. I had it as a backup tube and it did bring me back home safely but I wouldn’t use them as my everyday option.
Your tire is also due for replacement. Not just the inner tube.
Usually it’s the tube being a size too small but it’s a known fact that TPU tubes don’t stretch that much and especially not at the joint/weld/seam area. If you’re saying that another identical tube did not have the issue then there’s a consistency/quality issue. My TPU tubes all look like that but I don’t ride tubes that are too small for the tire volume so there’s no dip.
What’s the tire size and the tube size (range)?
That tire is shot, the sidewall cracking is bad enough to cause that. Replace the tyre and grab the right size tube, TPU tubes really don’t stretch to fit.
Did you use an electric pump? Possible heat damage? I’ve seen a few melt
What PSI did you pump up the tire to? If you didn’t go to max PSI it might be worthwhile going over a bit, see if this section stretches out to size.
did you pump your tire to ~5 bar ?
how did you twist your tire ?
it’s not a TPU inner tube problem – it’ll stretch to fill all available space, I see it’s at the valve area – which is narrower/stronger (tpu overlaps), also I’ve asked, did you pump it ?
but, don’t use too small/narrow TPU inner tubes, if stretched too much (outside designated size) they’ll become very week – you risk an explosion/sudden decompression during your ride !
I had this in a 32mm tyre but i just pumped it up more to like 80 psi and it disappeared and then let it down to riding pressure and been fine ever since.
Isn’t the tube too small? I had this problem when I tried this tube in a bigger tire. The part around the valve where it is glued is double layer, therefore cannot expand as much as the rest. This is the limiting parameter, and the sizing is given for this small part.
Every Ridenow tpu tube I’ve ever fitted has failed, I’ve stopped buying them.
