  1. I was interested right till he said it uses railway routes, so it goes around all the hills. Plenty of those options locally here and it makes for some of the most boring riding in the world. Handy for commuting, but I wouldn't go 10 minutes down the road to ride one for fun.

  2. You gotta get down to Lenka, on route Ngā Haerenga!

(I tried to adapt the route 66 song. It was hard to rhyme, but Lenka is an Australian singer and that's pretty close to New Zealand.)

  3. When you’re in the Otago region there is also the Clutha Gold trail, the Roxburgh Gorge trail and the Lake Dunstan trail. The area is rich in history, and controversy about the building of the dams.

  4. The Otago rail trail is a fantastic ride and there are various bike hire places that will organise your bike, accommodation and transportation of your bags along the way. Not to be missed.

  5. Lovely to hear you talk about something I've done a few times with family! It's really lovely down here – I just recommend waiting till summer/autumn… Love when you come up on my feed! <3

  6. People don’t realise just how long that is because NZ looks small on a map. It’s like the same distance as the entire US East Coast, top to bottom, or Denmark to the South of France.
