  1. Look up pin head bike locks, and order a key
Edit: or try your hand at a hammer and screwdriver if you don’t want to wait then put on a regular quick release

  2. You may be able to put a vise grip on the axle and loosen it from there. I’ve never tried to get one of those off.

  3. Tighten the cones. Take off the “qr”. Throw qr away. Don’t move the wheel with tight cones.

    Or angle grinder.

  4. I’m assuming this is used and not stolen.

Ask the previous owner for the key. If they don’t have it you can contact pinhead with a picture of the pattern and they’ll send you a new key for a price.

  5. You can get pinhead locks off with a hammer, a punch, some skill and a lot of patience.

It’s very helpful to have the bike in a workstand. The pinheads are made to encourage a glancing blow, so you’ll have to hold the punch just right to create enough rotation from the hammer strike.

Nestle your punch right in “teardrop” of the hole and give it a good downward smack with the hammer.

Bought a used Specialized bike with these. One of those universal sockets with the pins inside works perfectly. Harbor Freight sells one for a few bucks.

  9. File two parallel flats on each side and vice grips on each side. Get a new QR axle
