Trying out bikepacking.com mullet drivetrain setup, this one: https://bikepacking.com/gear/guide-to-mullet-drivetrains/#VII . From the pictures only, the setup seems to be working fine.
Interestingly, Wolf Tooth stated that GRX 812 derailleur is not compatible with Goatlink 11:
Anyway, I trust the article and decided to go with it. I use the exact same parts for the setup: Shimano GRX RD-RX812 11S derailleur, Goatlink 11 derailleur hanger, Sunrace CSMX80 11-50t cassette sprocket. For the chainring, Wolf Tooth 46 (the said article did not specifically mention the size of the chainring, though).
Problems, as captured in the video:
- Cannot shift to the largest sprocket
- I find it quite difficult to shift down the lowest 5 gears
Feedbacks are appreciated

Out of the topic but that caliper will probably eat the white cooling fins on that rt-cl800 rotor.
Have you adjusted the b-screw properly? Is the hanger bent?
Like what Wolf Tooth states, with a 31T capacity it shouldn’t be possible for this RD to shift comfortably across a 11-50 casette. Even if Shimano’s specs tend to be very conservative, 8t over capacity is a lot. A longer chain will help with the 50t cog, but the shifting quality on small gears might just always be bad. Other than that, I’d try contacting the editor about his setup. I’m curious if this works, it’s a cool mod on paper.
That chain is craaazy short.
