Camcycle is celebrating that Cambridge is host to England’s first cycle street!
Adams Road has been delivered by the Greater Cambridge Partnership as part of the Comberton Greenway to help more people walk and cycle from Cambridge city centre to the West Cambridge site and villages beyond including Coton and Comberton. Up to 3,000 cyclists use this route a day. Camcycle has been campaigning alongside local residents since 2019 for improvements. This will support more people to move easily around the area as Cambridgeshire continues to grow. The pavement has been widened to allow greater accessibility and space for pedestrians and rain gardens have been installed to manage drainage and boost biodiversity.

And for the elderly who can't walk far or cycle, what's in it for them?
Busiest? Yes i can see that.
Fucking up traffic, the life blood of modern cities – all so you young healthy types can peddle.
Looks great! This is a very busy cycle route. If anyone is worried about the impact on drivers, this street has not been a through driving route for decades (bollards in Wilberforce Road).
Very nice. Can we have some more please? Although just sticking up signs and painting the cycle priority symbol like the Dutch do would get us a lot more cycle-street-miles for the money than resurfacing the whole thing in red. I guess you need to make a statement for the first one, but once people are used to it some signs should suffice where the road width is already suitable.
