  1. Reads very familiar. And it seems to be that the sentiment of the majority being better off not going with a proper road bike held true even back then.

    I’m pretty sure I had those tires.

    This was an interesting time in bikes as you just started to get 700c hybrid bikes with flat bars hit the mainstream.

    Cyclecross was not well known in North America, but there were some really interesting bars for mountain bikes. Also the bars were much narrower than is typical now. I think my hybrid had narrower bars than my road bike has now.

    I used to buy that magazine at the store.

    Note the toeclips.  

    Now you see why clip*less* pedals were invented.  Imagine trying to dab using toeclips.
