You forgot to mention persistent overloading of carbs, the exact way the pros are doing, can sadly lead to insulin resistance!
Club riders or weekend warriors think they have the engine to burn off these carbs!
They don't!
I think replacing hi-end wearable parts isn't serious case to say in this topic. If someone can afford the groupset, I think they can pay for any part replacement without issue.
deep rear wheel are not a handful at all, feel free to go as deep as you want in the rear.
Sorry old school rim brakes manecal gears two piece handlebars
Thanks, all great tips. See this a lot in golf as well. Run out to buy what the "Pros" are using and it's a waste of $$ because we quickly realize we are not "Pros".
i honestly find it silly that prebuildt bikes even come with dura-ace. the truth is no one should buy it, you should only have dura-ace if youre sponsored and dont have to foot the bill yourself.
ultegra and grx 800 is good enough.
I copied the slammed stem by cutting my fork at 50 Years old. Found out I have hip impingement right away lol. Now it's funky handlebars or a 700 dollar fork as the stem is proprietary. I copied the 165mm too, have a nice brand new Ultegra crank I can't use. Same with my stance width I have 1000 dollar Garmin Pedals that my +4mm Ultegra pedals will be replacing as I look for a crank arm option. 🤑💰💸
Never thought that my massive upper body is disadvantageous other than air drag…. 120 gr carb intake is absolutely great for amateurs as well. My hard interval sessions become absolutely easier when I upped the carb intake from 60 to 120 gr. But it was not a few weeks process, a slow uptake is the key to prevent "unintended" consequences. And there is no need to use specialised products, table sugar is good enough. Used both and sugar works as good if not better. Don't go for SRAM, go for Shimano and save money on wearables. My bike came with GP5000 TT tyres, I do not think they will last long on South West England country lanes… Turned down shifters feels great anatomically! This way they are more comfortable than straight shifters. Just had to paid for a one piece cockpit change, it is painful… Deep wheel are amazing! The issue is sometimes it is not clear who/what is steering the bike 🙂 🙂 🙂
Got a 53t chainring, it helps me. LOL.
Same video every year just try to be original please..
Ceramic headset bearings must have the worst cost-to-benefit ratio of any bike part.
Sounds like you're just trying to keep me from being fast
Timesteps would be nice 😊
Ok with TT tyres and ceramic bearings. For the rest it's up to everyone's choice and preferences.
I’m a newbie to Rode bicycles. I noticed that even the $1200 Trek Claris DOMANE is coming with the hoses integrated right into the bottom under the handlebar thing just like a beautiful canyon. Whereas new 2026 specialized allez is still doing semi integration or whatever you call it where the hoses are going into the top tube and it looks like the human batteries plugged in in matrix I wondered if specialized kept that choice on purpose because of the maintenance issue. I heard the Trek mechanics are complaining that fully integrated look doesn’t make sense when you have to have so many hoses because you don’t have electronic shifting it’s like too tight in there and too hard to access but it does look beautiful now trek road bike for beginners weighing 23 pounds is another problem to talk about
Who would be stupid enough to consume 120g carbs / hour on a Z2 cafe ride ?!?!
I do many of these things, deep wheels, 1 piece bar and stem, narrow cockpit, high carb intake, etc. I wouldn't change a single thing to be honest.
A TTTR does not completely lack puncture protection – it has a puncture belt!
Perfectly useable for every day riding when setup tubeless.
Rim brakes, gatorskin hardshells, wd40 on chain, iron spokes covered by rear cardboard diy TT dish, external cables coiled around tubes, friction generator front & rear lamp, ‘Pinny Dogma frame, slammed articulated riser stem, Sram Red grupo, aero skin suit & hockey helmet at all times (safety first).
Saddle bag with spare tube, tyre levers, disposable mechanic gloves and a multitool. Will make you slower, but not as slow as a flat tire and walking home
You are spot on with the slammed stem! Too many amateurs yearn for this radical setup, even if it only leads to a back pain and hence worse performance.
120g of carbs an hour isn't much, it's just 480 calories. That's equal to the energy burned by riding at 133W over the same hour…
Ceramic bearings are NOT more prone to contamination than steel bearings, it's all about the seals. Also, seals seems to be a very underappreciated part of your bearings. Listen to anyone who really knows bearings and chances are they will talk WAY more about different seals than they will talk about what the balls are made of.
One trend I'm following will be 1x, but not the over sized ratios. I don't like blowing up my heart when the road tilts up. Love the wide range, I just need more bottom end than top end to keep things enjoyable.13 speeds is more than enough.
On a super hard ride I went with 105g of straight sugar per hour for 4 hours. No issue at all. Guess having a sweet tooth helped or something
If you don't have a power output of world's top pros, you don't need a bike that's more expensive than an entry level carbon bike with mechanical 105 groupset. more than this is a gross waste of money. It's like getting a rocket science equipment when all you know is an elementary level algebra.
