Hello all!

As the title implies, I’m a new rider looking to just start out riding around my neighborhood but, ultimately, would like to ride longer distances.

I’m not looking to spend a bunch of money (yet). Quite frankly, I’m looking at some used bikes online before I jump on to a heftier priced one. That said, one of the people in my neighborhood recently listed four bikes (individually) on OfferUp.

They are:

Peugeot ISS 600 (pictures I just took are attached) – $100
Mongoose Switchback 7005 Mountain Bike Medium – $50

The other two bikes were a BMX-like bike and a female mountain bike that matched the Mongoose although I vaguely recall it saying Magna (or something like that).

The mountain bike doesn’t seem like it is for me. I’m 6’ 2” and it was way too clunky (to me).

I rode the Peugeot around for a bit and it felt nice and pretty natural despite not being used for a few years (according to him).

MY QUESTION: Do you think the Peugeot could/would be a decent beginner bike at $100?

I am willing to buy it but, mainly, want to make sure I’m O.K. price-wise. I really can’t find anything online comparable due to the age (I think).

Thank you for any and all help.

Offer $75, although it’s a good bike for riding, it’s nothing quality. Ride the shit out of it!

Depends on what you local bike market is like, the Peugeot is a fine bike for casual riding but they go for $60-80 where I’m at.

For $100 that Peugeot is a solid deal, the Shimano Acera bits are legit. Old Peugeots ride smooth, just check the tires and cables before you commit.
